David Villa to Barcelona, GOOD OR BAD?

Starting a new fresh blogging life with this review on the rumored transfers of David Villa going to Barcelona. Mind you, at the time of writing this transfer are still rumored so nothing is official yet, I will review the goods and the bads if the transfer is actually happened.

First I will start with David Villa.

What more we can say about 'el guaje' ? He is a prolific goalscorer, a consistent performer that not only goalscoring, he lay down crucial assists for his teammate. I didn't follow La Liga closely, but I think he is the vice-captain for Valencia. How on earth this guy never moves club from Valencia? It is because his allegiance to the club that he believes he might reach success with but it wasn't meant to be. A consistent performer for both Spain and Valencia, this guy deserves a bigger club, especially as he is 28 years old and hoping to gain more football accolades before ending his career. Is he a traitor for leaving Valencia? NO. This move will balance the book of Valencia's finance as there is still loan repayment debt that need to be cleared up. All Valencia need to negotiate is to get more cash rather than Bojan + Hleb + small amount of cash.

Pros and Cons

I will review the pros and cons in terms of Barcelona point of view rather than David Villa's or Valencia's. For Barcelona, this transfer will be an excellent one. Barcelona is using a 4-3-3 formation, where the 3 trident forwards are Pedro, Ibrahimovic and Messi. In a sense, Villa seems to be a replacement for Ibrahimovic..it could be right but in my opinion Villa is a much more complete forward compared to Ibra. He can be used on the left side of the attack where Pedro or Henry usually operates as these 2 wingers on these tridents aren't instructed to play wide along the lines and supply crosses, they usually cuts inside and wreck havoc on the opponent's penalty area. If this is where Pep Guardiola want to put him in the formation, then there will be no problem for Barcelona at all, it will complement where Barcelona is lacking this season, the left side of attack where Henry is inconsistent and Pedro is not playing up to his standards, Barca's attack will be held up and that is why is able to scores an amazing 31 goals in La Liga because the opposite flank is not playing as well as he is.

No matter how you look at it, David Villa is an excellent transfer for Barca, regardless of whether they need to let go of their teenage sensation, Bojan Krcic to Valencia or not. The only cons in this transfer is if David Villa is used as a center forward rather than left forwards, can Zlatan Ibrahimovic accept the fact that he is the substitute for Villa, or rather shipped to the left flank just to adjust Villa as a center forward? Zlatan not known for his good manner and no ego at all, he is still a controversial figure as he was in Ajax where he once threw a scissor to his teammate, Mido! But the cons is only a 'what if' assumption, if Pep Guardiola play his cards right and go ahead with this transfer, Villa-Ibra-Messi might be an unstoppable force in La Liga and Europe next season.
